The Mu-1 Member's Club
Personal flight represents a freedom that compelled
man to conquer seemingly insurmountable obstacles 100 years ago.
In passing over the next threshold in aviation development, Carter Technology
expands the horizons of our personal freedom and opens the door to a more
universal community of aviators.
You
can become an important part of Carter History . . .
through
participation in the Mu-1 Member's Club.

Have your name written on the CCTD for centuries to come
The Mu-1 Member's Club was developed
to aid in the restoration of the CarterCopter Technology Demonstrator
(CCTD). The CCTD is the original prototype developed by Carter to
demonstrate their revolutionary technology. The CCTD has been flown
successfully for more than four years in a slow progression of testing
sequences to validate Carter's unique gyroplane technology. However,
just prior to the assault on the Mu-1 Barrier the CCTD sustained considerable
damage in the gear-up landing on April 8, 2003. The accident occurred
at a critical phase in Carter's development plan and the CCTD was scheduled
to be abandoned in order to focus on the development of the Next Generation
CarterCopter (NXCC).
The Organization for Sport Aviation Competition
(OSAC) believes however that the CCTD has tremendous importance as a revolutionary
and historic aircraft and that it should be restored for educational purposes
for future generations. They also believe the CCTD, by right, should
be the aircraft to break the Mu-1 Barrier. To that end, OSAC has
created the Mu-1 Member's Club to raise the necessary funds
to restore the CCTD. The fundraising goal is set at $270,000.00.
Contributions to OSAC for the Mu-1 Member's Club are tax
deductible for federal income tax purposes.
We are counting on friends - those of you who
have followed the development of Carter's Technology - to come forward
and support this restoration effort. If thousands take part the task will
be simple and immensely rewarding. There are few opportunities where
we, as grass-roots aviators and enthusiasts, have the ability to make
a personal mark on aviation history. The Mu-1 Member's Club
is a unique opportunity.
"We hope that you will consider taking part in this
important effort. We recognize the importance of individual contributions
to our advancement and we sincerely appreciate your interest and support."
Anita C.
Infante, President of OSAC
Jay Carter, Jr., President of Carter Aviation Technologies

the following gifts as
recognition
for your support.
·
A CarterCopter Video CD - this video gives a brief
history of Carter and the CCTD. It highlights important events and
milestones in Carter research and testing and gives a glimpse into future
development projects. It even includes video of the most recent
accident that necessitated this restoration effort. The Video CD will
be given to those who contribute $50.00 or more.à
·
A ticket to the Mu-1 Barrier attempt - plans
are to stage the CCTD's attempt to break the Mu-1 Barrier at a public
event where there will be limited seating. This milestone in aviation
history will open a new frontier for personal flight. The Event Ticket
and Video CD will be given to those who contribute $100.00 or more.

·
Your name written on the CCTD - your contribution
will become a physical part of the CCTD's history for generations to come.
As a donor at this level, your name will be permanently written on the
CCTD. Your name will then be visible for the Mu-1 Barrier attempt
and also as the CCTD is displayed at other events and eventually in a
public museum. This recognition will be limited to the first 1,000 donors
who contribute $200.00 or more. These donors will also receive a
Ticket to the Mu-1 Barrier attempt and a Video CD. ààà
VIDEO
CD Update:
The editing of the Video CD is progressing slowly. All of the work is
being done by volunteers in between their normal business hours and preparation
for the Mu-1 Barrier Flight requires a majority of everyone's time at
the moment. If you are to receive the video CD as a part of your Mu-1
Membership, please be patient. We will have the CD completed as soon as
possible. Thank You.
Your contribution should be made out to the Organization
for Sport Aviation Competition or OSAC and sent to:
OSAC, 9729 East 3000th Street, Kewanee, IL 61443
Please note how you would like your membership
listed and include your street address, phone number and email address
for ease in contacting you. International donations can be made through
a bank wire. Bank routing information can be obtained from the OSAC office
by email at osacpresident@bwsys.net.
Please Note
the following:
OSAC cannot be responsible
for lost or misdirected mail. Please do not send cash through the
mail. Your canceled check will provide verification of your donation.
Unfortunately, we are not equipped to take contributions with credit cards.
OSAC will send separate receipts for contributions of $75.00 or more.
Receipts for 2003 contributions will be mailed prior to January 31, 2004.
Your name will be added to the Mu-1 Member's Page on the Carter website
in a timely fashion after your contribution has cleared the OSAC bank
account. It is estimated that approximately 93% of each contribution
will go directly to the restoration of the CCTD. Approximately 7%
will be used to oversee the Mu-1 Member's Club and to cover organizational
costs.

The Video CD is currently under
production and will be available for distribution after August 1, 2003.
The CD is considered a token gift and, therefore, does not impact the
tax deductibility of your donation.

The location for the Mu-1 Barrier
attempt has not as yet been approved. Current plans are to stage
the event in November 2003, but timing has not been finalized. As
soon as the schedule and location of the event are approved, information
will be posted on the Carter website. Tickets will be available 40 days
prior to the event. Mu-1 Members who qualify for tickets: your ticket
will be held for will-call at the event unless other arrangements are
made more than 30 days prior to the event. The tax-deductible amount
of your contribution will be reduced by the retail value of the ticket.

Names will be placed on the CCTD
through the use of decals. Members who qualify for their name to
be listed on the CCTD must have their contribution cleared through the
OSAC account 45 days prior to an event in order to have their name displayed
on the CCTD at that event. Member names will be placed on the CCTD
in the order that they clear the OSAC account to prevent continued changing
of the decals to maintain an alphabetical order. Charter Member
names will be listed in a larger point size. There is no intrinsic
value to having your name on the CCTD; therefore, it does not impact the
tax deductibility of your donation.
About OSAC:
The Organization for Sport Aviation Competition is
a new, public charity whose primary purpose is to support and provide
educational programs to the general public. In addition, its focus
is to build a greater understanding of the history and impact that experimental
aviation has had on society and to support the field of sport/experimental
aviation through competitive events.
OSAC's first competitive event was planned to
take place in Homestead, FL in November of 2001. The events of September
11, 2001 caused the event to be postponed and ultimately canceled.
OSAC has continued to investigate new event locations and plans are moving
forward toward an event in the Western U.S. in the spring of 2004.
